We are Peniel Novato
We believe the church is not a building: it is a family where God restores, lifts up and transforms lives. We are a Hispanic Christian church in the heart of Novato, California, where every Sunday and every Friday we open our doors to worship, hear His Word and grow together. No matter your story or your past — here you will never walk alone.
What does "Peniel" mean?
Peniel means "face to face with God" (Genesis 32:30). When Jacob met God, his life changed forever and he named that place Peniel. That is our longing: that everyone who comes would have a real encounter with God that transforms their life.
WE ARE HOME
A place where you belong. You don't have to pretend or come perfect — here you are welcome just as you are.
WE ARE FAMILY
We walk together in the good times and the hard ones. Here you will never be alone; there will always be someone praying for you.
WE ARE CHURCH
We worship, grow in the Word and serve Novato with the love of Christ, one life at a time.
Ps. Auner & Pra. Carmina Mazariegos
Pastor Auner Mazariegos has devoted his life to the service of God and His church. From a young age he served in different areas of ministry, and for several years he was the youth leader. He comes from a family with a strong heritage of faith and service to God: his grandfather devoted much of his life to pastoral ministry, and today his father continues that legacy serving as a pastor. With over 13 years of ministry experience, he is a graduate of a school of theology in Berkeley and holds a master's degree in Theology.
By his side, pastor Carmina Mazariegos is an essential part of the house: she serves the youth with love and leads all of the church administration. Together they shepherd the Peniel family with the same heart.

Our love crosses borders
Serving does not stop in Novato. We bring help to brothers and sisters in Guatemala and El Salvador: we send clothing, shoes, toys and supplies, and we hold free medical outreach days and hand out food to families in need. Every box and every outreach carries more than things: it carries the love of Christ to those who need it most.

What are missions?
They are the love of Christ stepping outside the four walls. The church does not exist only for those already inside: serving someone we will never meet, who will never repay us, is also following Jesus.
Give
Bring clothing, shoes, toys or basic supplies. Every box we pack here ends up in the hands of a family that was waiting for it.
Serve
Join us in packing the boxes and preparing the shipments. There is a place for you in this work.
Plan your visit
Come just as you are. We welcome you with joy and open arms.
Come as you are
There's no dress code. Jeans, sneakers — whatever you have is fine.
We welcome you
When you arrive someone greets you and helps you find a seat. Come a few minutes early if you can.
We worship together
Worship, the Word and prayer — all in Spanish, all as family. English speakers are welcome — live translation available.
Be part of what God is doing
Your offerings and tithes sustain the work: they reach families, raise up ministries and bless Novato. Thank you for sowing with joy.
